Bob Wielaard (1964) is a Dutch landscape photographer. He graduated from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in The Hague in architectural design. Later, he attended workshops at the Photo Academy in Amsterdam.
For a long time he designed furniture and worked in architectural design. In recent years, the emphasis has increasingly been on photography.

Travels through the Scottish Highlands have deeply changed his view to the land and his photography. The vast expanse of nature resulted in a more intuitive approach.
The question of what a landscape actually is, is determined by aspects such as ‘materiality’, human presence / absence, memory, history and event.
His photography is mainly monochromatic.

After working digitally for some time he returned to film and now works with a 4×5 field camera.
This camera, the film, the landscape, composing under a dark cloth and making prints in the dark room. It is an intense and intensive process. It requires for a different approach to the subject, more of a rediscovery of the landscape, which for personal reasons feels more right with this way of working.
